What does Contraction Crossing teach?

Four missions progress through not contractions; am, is and are; will and have; then cannot/can’t and will not/won’t. Each mission includes a model, supported work, independent practice and an explain-or-repair checkpoint. This is focused contraction practice, not a complete grammar curriculum.

What is included?

Your download is one ZIP containing two 28-page PDFs (color and white-background low-ink) and a customer readme with printing and household license notes. There are 28 unique pages, provided in two editions—not 56 different lessons. Both editions contain the same sequence, activity IDs and answers.

Inside: parent guidance, readiness check, four mission lessons and practice sequences, a reusable chart of 26 contraction forms, eight repair tickets and game board, mixed review, a rescue-postcard writing challenge, three adult answer pages and a progress certificate.

Who is it for?

Designed for Grade 2 learners who can read short sentences and copy common words. An adult may read the adventure directions aloud. The characters are story guides; their ages do not determine the target grade. Use one short lesson and practice page at a time, then revisit any family that needs support.

How do I print and use it?

Print US Letter, portrait, single-sided, at Actual Size / 100%. Choose either edition. Use ordinary paper and pencil; cutting game tickets is optional and should be adult supervised. No app or account is required to use the PDFs. These are printables, not fillable forms.

Frequently asked questions

Are answers included?

Yes. Pages 25–27 provide answers and criteria for open responses. Keep them with the adult until the learner has tried the activity.

Does this teach possessive apostrophes?

No. It focuses on contractions. In the lesson contexts, he’s, she’s and it’s mean he is, she is and it is. It does not attempt every possible contraction or ambiguous forms such as he’d.

Can I use it with a classroom or co-op?

This purchase includes a one-household license. A classroom, co-op or tutoring group is not covered. Do not redistribute or publicly upload the paid files.

Is a physical workbook shipped?

No. This is a digital PDF download supplied in a ZIP file. Open the ZIP, choose your edition and print the pages you need.

Can I see the pages first?

Yes. Use the clearly labeled six-page public sample and real-page previews below. The sample retains original page numbers and includes selected lesson/practice pages, the word chart and the relevant answers.
