👋 Hi, friends! It’s me, Alice! And OH MY GIGGLES—guess what popped up on our computer screen today? A GIANT lily pad so humongous, I seriously think it could hold a birthday cake, me, and Mr. Fluffernutter without even wobbling! It was the brightest green I’ve ever seen—like a minty pancake with tiny ridges, floating all calm and royal on a sparkly blue pond. It looked like a leafy trampoline for bunnies. Poppy said it was real and grows in the Amazon Rainforest! So I yelled (nicely), “WAIT—do frogs have pool parties on them?!” 🐸🎉

🌿 What We Learned in the Lily Pad Kingdom
Here are some squishy-spectacular facts we discovered about these floaty giants:
✨ Name: Victoria amazonica (It’s named after Queen Victoria of England—but I bet her royal rainforest name is Queen Floaty Pad!)
🐸 Size: Up to 10 feet wide—that’s wider than our dinner table, our couch, AND our sandbox smushed together!
🌱 Fun Fact #1: Underneath the lily pad, it looks like a spiky waffle made from strong leafy ribs that work like secret bridges—helping the pad stay sturdy and spread out weight evenly so it doesn’t tip over or sink! made from strong leafy ribs. That keeps it floating—perfect for frogs, birds, or bunny kings like Mr. Fluffernutter!
🌼 Fun Fact #2: The flowers open white at night and turn pink by morning—like they’re getting dressed up for a sunrise ball! This color-changing trick helps attract different pollinators: nighttime beetles love the white, and daytime bees buzz over for the pink. Pretty AND smart!
🧬 Fun Fact #3: They only grow in super quiet waters—like calm ponds and flooded Amazon backyards—because big waves or fast-moving water could tear their delicate edges or tip them over. These lily pads love peace and stillness, just like nap time!
Mr. Fluffernutter leaned close and whispered, “God’s design is full of surprises, even floating ones.”

📖 Memory Verse
“O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.”
—Psalm 104:24
(That means God made so much cool stuff, even lily pads that turn into froggy parade floats!)

🎨 Craft & Printables Fun
Let’s ask a grown-up to help gather some fun supplies, then make our own Floating Leaf Kingdom at home! Let’s make our own Floating Leaf Kingdom at home!

📌 Giant Lily Pad Coloring Page
Draw a super-sized lily pad with frogs, bugs, birds, and a bunny floating on top. Add the memory verse on the leaf. Don’t forget to give your beetles top hats!

🧪 STEM Challenge: Build a Floating Leaf
Use a paper plate, plastic wrap, or foam tray. Try adding sticks, straws, or string underneath like leaf veins. See how many tiny animals (pennies or toy bugs) it can hold before sinking!

📒 Adventure Journal Page
Title: “The Leaf That Could Hold a Bunny!”
- Map: Draw South America and mark the Amazon River.
- Doodle: Sketch your own lily pad kingdom.
- Prayer: Write one thing you love about God’s creativity.

🐰 Fluffernutter’s Leaf Report
“Report from Bunny HQ! These leaves are secret superhero capes for ponds. I hopped on one (carefully) and floated like a champion marshmallow. I brought along a snack pouch filled with dried banana chips and carrot sprinkles—perfect for nibbling while drifting. Also saw a beetle with a mustache and monocle. HIGHLY recommend for bunny-sized adventures.”
Until next time, may your puddles be calm and your lily pads be strong!
Love, Alice (and Fluffernutter!)
