Discovering Paul’s Last Letter: A Journey of Faith

By Alice

Psssst… wanna hear a secret?

This morning, while I was brushing Fluffernutter’s ears (he says they must be fluffed before any serious Bible business), we found something twinkly hiding in Daddy’s big black Bible. It wasn’t glitter. Or gumdrops. Or even a note from the Snack Fairy. Nope—it was something even better: Paul’s last letter.

“Fluffy,” I whispered, holding up my pink sparkly magnifying glass, “I think this is a message from the Apostle Adventure Club. We’ve been officially invited.”

Fluffernutter didn’t say anything, but one of his ears flopped exactly three times, which is his top-secret signal for “Get your armor, Commander Alice. This is gonna be big.”

So, we grabbed our Brave Bunny Shields (they’re made of cardboard and banana stickers), our Jellybean Compass of Faith, and our glowing map (okay fine—it was my doodle pad with flashlight scribbles), and we set out to read the final words of a man who never stopped hopping after Jesus—even when he was cold, lonely, and stuck in the not-so-cozy Cave of Chains (grown-ups call it a prison, but that’s just a cave with no marshmallows).

Inside his letter, Paul wasn’t grumpy or growly. He wasn’t shouting or sulking or throwing his sandals. He was kind. And hopeful. And still writing love-notes for God’s team.

He talked about people who stuck close, people who ran away, and people who reminded him that grace is like a snuggle-blanket for your soul.

So now, Fluffernutter and I are on a brand-new mission:

🗺️ Operation: Find the Faithful Friends and Collect the Grace Gems 💎

Wanna come with us? All you need is a heart ready for hugging, ears that listen for Jesus-whispers, and maybe a bunny badge made of felt and courage (optional, but highly recommended).

Because today’s story? It’s not just old. It’s alive. Like jellybeans in your pocket and prayers that sparkle.

Let’s go exploring.

🧡 Paul’s Faithful Friends (and the Ones Who Forgot)

So, Fluffernutter and I were flipping through our Bible Adventure Manual (a.k.a. Daddy’s extra big Bible), when we found Paul writing all about friends—the good, the gone, and the grumpy. 😯

“Wait,” I said, twirling one of Fluffy’s ears like a friendship ribbon, “why does Paul sound happy and sad at the same time?”

Daddy sipped his coffee (which he says helps his sermon brain) and explained,

“Paul felt lonely sometimes, but he never forgot to thank the friends who stayed. The ones who stood by him while he shared the gospel—even when it was really hard.”

That made me blink extra slow.

Because guess what? Paul wasn’t pretending everything was jellybeans and sunshine. He told the truth! He said, “Some friends left me.” But he also wrote letters about the faithful friends who stuck around like Super Glue with halos.

Those friends gave him strength. Encouragement. Bunny-brave backup. 🐰💪

Daddy said,

“Their support helped Paul keep going. When people believe in your mission for Jesus, it’s like God sends little hugs through them.”

Ariel tilted her head like she does when she’s thinking science-thoughts.
“Why would Paul even mention the ones who walked away?” she asked.

Fluffernutter whispered (okay, maybe it was me pretending),

“To remind us that even heroes get hurt sometimes—but Jesus stays every single time.”

Daddy nodded. “Exactly. Paul didn’t hide the hard stuff. He shared it, so we’d learn that even when people let us down, God sends new courage through others. It also helps us be those friends for someone else.”

So now I’m wondering…

💭 Let’s Ponder with Bunny Paws:

  • Can you think of someone who has been a faithful friend to you?
  • Have you ever been a brave encourager for someone else?
  • How can we show others they’re not alone, just like Paul’s gospel buddies did?

📖 Bible Treasure Verse:

“Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.”
—2 Timothy 4:11 (NIV)

💎 Treasure Faithful Friendships (Like They’re Rare Bunny Gems)

Okay, so let me tell you something super shiny that Fluffernutter and I just figured out.

When Paul wrote his last letter, he didn’t make a big sparkly list of all the people who forgot his birthday or took the last cookie. Nope! He told a story about two faithful friends—Luke (who stuck around) and Mark (who made a big comeback and got invited back into the Bunny Brigade of Ministry).

Yaya smiled with her soft eyes and said,

“Faithful friends are a gift from God. They stay when life gets bumpy and help us keep going—even when we feel like hiding under the covers with a flashlight and 23 marshmallows.”

I blinked slowly.

Then Ariel asked one of her thoughtful-big-sister questions:
“So… even if some people leave us, we can still thank God for the ones who stay?”

Daddy nodded like it was the most important jellybean truth ever.

“Yes, sweetheart. Faithful friendships are how God reminds us we’re never truly alone. Even if some friends disappear like socks in the dryer, the ones who stay can help us grow braver, stronger, and more filled with hope.”

I imagined my friendship with Fluffernutter. He always lets me pick the quest, even when I want to rescue glowworms from the fridge. That’s a faithful friend.

Daddy kept talking while Bash (our dog) snored like thunder sprinkles.

“Every friend teaches us something—especially the ones who walk with us through hard stuff. They show us God’s love in real, huggable ways.”

And just like that, our whole family started remembering who had been there when our hearts felt crunchy or confused. Yaya. Each other. Fluffy (obviously). Even our neighbors who leave surprise cookies by the mailbox.

💡 Let’s Wonder Together:

  • Can you name a faithful friend who makes you feel seen and safe?
  • Have you ever been someone’s Luke or Mark—helping them feel brave again?
  • How does God use friends to show us His love?

📖 Grace-Filled Friendship Verse:

“Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.”

🌈 God’s Grace Is the Squishiest Superpower Ever

Okay, so here’s what happened in the last part of Paul’s big letter scroll—he didn’t end it with a giant list of rules or a super serious speech. Nope. He whispered something softer than a bunny hug and stronger than a dragon shield.

He ended with grace. 🐰💖

Yaya told us,

“God’s grace gives us the strength to get through the hard things. It held Paul up when he felt weak and kept him going when things felt impossible.”

Then she said that sometimes, grace feels like a soft invisible pillow under your heart—a floaty cushion from heaven that shows up just when you need it most.

I blinked and imagined grace as a sparkly parachute made of clouds and jellybeans. 🍬☁️✨

Ariel tilted her head and asked in her serious-scientist voice,

“So, when we’re tired or scared, we can ask God for grace?”

Daddy nodded with his eyes all warm and glowy.

“Yes, sweet girl. God’s grace is always enough. It’s like a secret fountain of strength we carry everywhere—we just have to remember to drink from it.”

He explained that grace isn’t just a one-time Jesus present. It’s a forever fountain that flows into our hearts when we trust God and lean on His promises—even on days when our socks don’t match and our feelings feel tangled.

That’s when Ariel grinned and said what we were all thinking:

“So… grace is kinda like a superpower?”

Daddy laughed and said,

“Exactly! A holy superpower that helps us push through fear, pain, and worry—with faith as our cape.”

We all looked at each other—me, Fluffernutter, Bash (snoring), Yaya, and Daddy—and right then, I felt it.

That floaty grace was already here, holding us together like glitter glue on a wiggly day.

💫 Let’s Talk and Imagine:

  • Have you ever felt God’s grace holding you up when you were scared or tired?
  • What does grace look or feel like to you? (A blanket? A flashlight? A hug?)
  • Who in your life reminds you to lean on God when life feels tricky?

🏁 Finishing Well with Bunny Boots and Brave Hearts

Okay, so guess what Paul said near the end of his big goodbye-letter?

He said he finished his race and kept his faith. 🏃‍♂️✨
(And no, it wasn’t a jellybean sprint or a bunny hop contest—though Fluffernutter and I would totally win those.)

Yaya said something that made my heart squish in a good way:

“Finishing well means staying faithful to God’s calling—even when it’s hard.”

She told us that life’s path isn’t always smooth like frosting. Sometimes, it’s bumpy, stormy, and has invisible banana peels (or just regular sadness and big-people problems). But faithful people keep hopping forward with Jesus—one step, one prayer, one brave breath at a time.

Ariel raised her hand like we were in church-school.

“How do we actually finish well?”

Daddy smiled like he had a treasure chest of wisdom (he kinda does).

“We finish well by trusting God’s plan, relying on His grace, and staying faithful to what He’s called us to do.”

He said it’s not just about winning or being the fastest. It’s about finishing with your heart full of God, your mind set on truth, and your feet still dancing—even if they’re tired.

Then he told us a story about marathon runners who train for months. They stretch, drink water, build strong muscles, and prepare their minds. I asked if spiritual snacks were allowed.

Daddy said,

“Absolutely. Bible verses, prayer time, church hugs—those are soul snacks for the journey.”

Sometimes, you want to give up. Or sit down. Or throw your sandals. But that’s exactly when God whispers, “I’m with you. Keep going.”

💪💖 Let’s Wonder While We Wiggle:

  • What does finishing well look like for you?
  • Have you ever finished something hard with God’s help?
  • How can you stay faithful to what God’s calling you to do—even when it’s tricky?

💖 How I (Alice!) Plan to Be Faithful Like Paul (With Help From Fluffernutter, Of Course)

After reading Paul’s final reflections—and talking LOTS about it over snack time (banana chips and mini marshmallows, in case you’re wondering)—I made a super sparkly, pink-glittered plan with Fluffernutter.

We call it: Operation Faithful Bunny Boots. 🐰✨

🐇 Be a Loyal Friend (Even When I’d Rather Hide in a Blanket Fort)

Being a faithful friend doesn’t just mean sharing snacks or saving the last gummy bear. It means showing up. Even when it’s squishy. Even when I’m tired.

Like helping Ariel with her schoolwork when she’s all frowny-face and stuck on a big math mountain. I can sit beside her, listen (even to the grumbles), and tell her:

“God made your brain brilliant, and we’ve got this together.”

Sometimes friendship is just being the soft bunny voice that says, “You’re not alone.”

🌈 Trust God’s Grace (Especially When I’m Nervous, Wiggly, or Covered in Paint)

When I feel scared or overwhelmed—like starting something new, talking in front of the class, or cleaning my room (which is basically a sock kingdom)—I’ll stop, breathe, and pray:

“Dear Jesus, I feel a little spaghetti-noodle inside. Please give me grace and courage.”

God’s grace is my invisible parachute. It helps me try again when I flop, and it reminds me that I’m loved even when I mess up.

🏁 Finish Strong (Even If My Cape Gets Tangled)

Finishing strong doesn’t mean being the fastest or flashiest. It means keeping my heart pointed at Jesus and taking one brave step at a time.

Even when I feel like giving up—even when my glitter glue runs out—I’ll remember what Paul said:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
—2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)

With every tiny hop, I’ll trust that God’s got the map, the strength, and the bunny snacks ready.

🥕 Let’s Wonder While We Wiggle:

  • How can YOU be a loyal friend this week?
  • What’s something you’re trying to finish strong?
  • Have you ever felt God’s grace helping you when you were afraid or unsure?

✂️ Craft Time with Alice: Make a Grace Chain That Glows With God’s Love! 🌈🐰

Psst! Wanna build something squiggly, sparkly, and SO full of God’s grace that it might even make your socks dance?

Let’s make a Grace Chain—a colorful, loopy reminder of the people who cheer us on, and the heavenly hugs God sends us when life feels extra wobbly.

This faith-filled kids’ craft is one of my favorites, because every loop is like a whisper that says,

“You’re never alone. God’s grace is right here—linking us together.”

📦 What You’ll Need for Your Grace Chain:

  • Strips of paper (colorful ones are my favorite—but plain ones love crayons too!)
  • Markers or crayons for drawing hearts, stars, or happy jellybean faces
  • Tape or glue to stick your chain together like God sticks close to us!

📝 How to Make a Grace Chain (With Fluffernutter as Chief Link Tester):

  1. Write names on your paper strips—friends, family, church buddies, even pets who make you feel safe and strong. Pause and think, “Who has helped me finish strong or reminded me I’m loved?”
  2. On other strips, add power words like:
Grace, Faithfulness, Kindness, Joy, Bravery, God’s Love These are like heart-sprinkles from heaven.
  3. Loop them together one by one, saying a prayer as you add each piece. Ask God to bless every person and every word.
  4. Hang your Grace Chain somewhere special—like your bedroom wall, over the kitchen table, or around your Bible reading corner!

Every time you see it, you’ll remember:

“God’s grace holds me together, and I’m surrounded by people who help me shine.”

💬 Let’s Craft + Chat:

  • Who are your “grace link” people—those who lift you up when you feel small?
  • Which word in your chain means the most to you right now?
  • How can you be a “link of love” for someone else this week?

📖 Verse for Crafting Courage:

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
—Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)

🙏 A Prayer for Faithful Friendships and Glorious Grace 🌈🐰

Last night, under a blanket fort with one flashlight, three marshmallows, and one very fluffy bunny, I whispered this prayer with Mr. Fluffernutter:

✨ Our Bunny Bedtime Prayer:

“Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the faithful friends You’ve sprinkled into our lives like confetti hugs. Each one is a gift—a special reminder that we don’t have to do this adventure alone.
Help me be a loyal, encouraging, and giggle-filled friend, even when someone’s having a squishy-heart kind of day.
Thank You for Your grace—the invisible hug that holds me up when I feel floppy.
Please help me trust You when things feel twisty and tough, and give me strength to finish strong, with joy in my toes and love in my heart.
May my life sparkle with Your light, so others can see how AWESOME You are.
Amen.” 🐇💖

💌 Your Turn: Be Faithful, Be Kind, Be Wonderfully You

Wanna join the Bunny Brigade of Faithfulness this week? Fluffernutter and I made a sparkle-scribbled scroll of brave and beautiful ideas you can try at home, school, or wherever your jellybean boots take you.

These tiny acts of love are how we stand by others—just like Onesiphorus did for Paul. And guess what? They’re also how we shine God’s light with bunny-sized bravery. 🌟🐰

🌳 Make a Faithfulness Tree

Every leaf = one act of kindness or loyalty. You can…

  • Hug someone who’s having a hard day
  • Do a chore without being asked (even the icky ones!)
  • Write “God loves you!” on a sticky note and surprise someone

Soon, your tree will look like a forest of faith!

🎀 Stand Up for a Friend

If someone’s left out, sad, or picked on… hop over and include them. Say:

“Wanna sit with me?”
“You’re not alone—I’m with you!”

🕯️ Pray for Bunny-Strength

Set aside a few minutes each day to whisper:

“Dear Jesus, please help me love big, stay brave, and follow You with every hop.”

📖 Memory Verse for the Week:

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…”
—Hebrews 12:1–2 (NIV)

So until next time, keep hopping forward, hugging the truth, and sharing sparkle-hearted faith with the whole wide world. 🐇✨

With bunny love and brave prayers,
Alice 🐰💖
