Key Takeaways:

  • God’s work moves forward through a team of everyday believers with different gifts, not just one “super Christian.”
  • Encouragement, prayer, and faithful friendship are real ministry superpowers kids and families can use right now.
  • Names like Tychicus, Epaphras, and Nymphas show how messengers, hosts, and prayer warriors all matter to God.
  • Families can “join God’s team” by praying together, serving together, and cheering others on in their faith.
  • Colossians 4:7–18 invites kids to see themselves as active teammates in sharing Jesus’ love at home, church, and everywhere they go.

💌 Hello from Me and Mr. Fluffernutter!

Guess what I learned today? The Bible has superheroes! Not the kind with capes and laser eyes—but the kind who sneak letters across mountains, pray like champions, and cheer people on like holy cheerleaders (with sandals!). Their names are kinda hard to say—like Tychicus and Aristarchus (I called him “Starfish” at first… oops!)—but Paul called them his team. And not just any team—God’s Team! 💖

So of course, I told Mr. Fluffernutter, “We need a clubhouse and matching sparkle vests. Right now.” Because being on God’s team means we work together to share His love—like puzzle pieces that only make sense when they’re all connected.

One person delivers messages like a mailman for Jesus. Another comforts people with hugs and verses. Some pray super-duper hard like invisible warriors. Even if you’re not the loudest or fastest, you can still be a really important part of God’s mission.

So today’s adventure? We’re suiting up. Not with armor or glitter glue (well… maybe glitter glue), but with kindness, prayers, and big hearts ready to love like Jesus. Because whether you’re four or forty, we all get to play a part.

You’re not just a kid or a grown-up or a bunny named Fluffernutter—you’re God’s teammate. Isn’t that the best?

Are you ready to find your place in God’s team? Let’s go!

TL;DR

Colossians 4:7–18 shows Paul surrounded by a team of friends who carry letters, pray hard, host churches, and encourage believers. God’s Team: Working Together to Share His Love helps kids see that every helper, prayer, and quiet act of kindness can be part of God’s big mission.

🧩 Teamwork in God’s Big Puzzle

Did you know the Church is kind of like a giant puzzle—with each person as a super-special piece? Paul (you know, the guy who wrote lots of letters in the Bible) had a whole team of puzzle-piece people who helped him share God’s love all over the place! 💌✨

Mr. Fluffernutter said, “I bet they had secret code names like The Messenger, The Praying Power, and The Grace Giver.” That made me giggle, but then Daddy said something even cooler:

“Tychicus was Paul’s faithful messenger,” Daddy explained. “He carried letters and gave comfort to churches so they’d remember they weren’t alone. He helped everyone stay connected, like a holy mailman with a heart full of hugs!”

Ariel’s eyes lit up. “And Onesimus—he got a second chance, right?” she asked.

“Yep!” Daddy smiled. “He went from runaway to redeemed. His whole life changed because of Jesus. That’s what God’s grace can do—turn a lost story into a love story.”

Then we heard about Epaphras (that’s a really fun name to say—eh-PAFF-russ!). Yaya added:

“Epaphras prayed all the time for others. He wasn’t loud or flashy, but he was a warrior of prayer. God uses quiet heroes too.”

That made me think… maybe I’m not too little to help. Maybe you’re not either. Whether we’re brave like Tychicus, growing like Onesimus, or whispering prayers like Epaphras, we all have a role on God’s team.

Yaya said it best:

“Every person brings their own gift. When we all work together—whoosh!—God’s love goes even farther.”

So, I guess being part of a church isn’t just about going somewhere on Sunday. It’s about teamwork every day—helping, praying, sharing, and making others feel seen and loved.

Even if your job is giving gummy bear hugs or drawing pictures that make someone smile—you matter. You’re a teammate. A prayer piece. A helper hero. A hope-sharer!

💬 What About You?

Do you think prayer counts as teamwork too?

Can you think of a time when someone encouraged you with kind words or prayers?

What’s your special way of helping others feel God’s love?

Fun Fact — Team Nicknames in Colossians

Paul didn’t just list names; he used descriptions too! Luke is called “the beloved physician,” and Tychicus is “a beloved brother and faithful minister.” Those little phrases are like holy nicknames that show how much Paul loved and trusted his teammates.

FAQ

Q: Why does Paul mention so many different people at the end of Colossians?

A: Paul wanted the church to see that God’s work is a team effort. Those names belong to friends who carried letters, prayed, encouraged, and hosted church meetings. Paul showed that every helper on God’s team mattered—not just the person writing the letter.

🌟 Encouragement: The Superpower of God’s Team

So guess what? Paul didn’t just write instructions in his letters—he sprinkled them with hellos and high-fives! In Colossians 4:14–15, he wrote:

“Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you. Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.”

(Colossians 4:14–15, KJV)

Daddy told us, “Paul mentioned all those names to show how much he cared about his friends in the Church. He wanted them to feel seen and cheered on—like a holy fan club!”

Ariel blinked. “So… Paul was kind of like a team captain who kept encouraging everyone?”

“Exactly,” Daddy nodded. “He knew that encouragement strengthens people’s faith. When we remind others that they matter, we help them keep going.”

Then Yaya added something I loved:

“When we support and encourage one another, we shine God’s love. Even a small word of kindness—like ‘You’re doing great!’ or ‘I prayed for you today’—can make someone’s whole day sparkle.”

I gasped and whispered to Fluffernutter, “That means I can sparkle someone’s day, too!”

💌 How Can I Encourage?

This whole part made me think about how we lift each other up on God’s team. You don’t need a microphone or a superhero cape.

Sometimes, all it takes is:

  • Helping your friend when they’re stuck on homework 📚
  • Giving your sister a squishy hug when she’s sad 🤗
  • Leaving a happy note on your grown-up’s pillow 📝💛
  • Saying, “Jesus loves you, and I do too!” 🕊️

Encouragement is like glitter glue for the heart—it sticks in the best way. And guess what? When you share it, it spreads! One kind word can start a whole chain reaction of love and support. Just imagine: you encourage someone… they encourage someone else… and before you know it, the whole world is a little brighter with God’s joy.

“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”

(Ephesians 4:29, NLT)

💭 Let’s Wonder Together!

What’s something kind you can say to a family member or a friend today?

Have you ever been encouraged by someone’s words or actions? How did it make you feel?

Who could you surprise with a cheerful note or a helping hand this week?

Family Activity — “God’s Team Huddle”

Use this quick activity to help kids discover their role on God’s team.

  1. Draw a big heart on a piece of paper and write “God’s Team” in the center.
  2. Around the heart, let each family member draw themselves (or a little symbol) and write one way they can help: pray, encourage, serve, share, or host.
  3. Talk about how every piece connects, like puzzle pieces that only make sense together.
  4. Pray as a family: ask God to show each person how to share His love this week.

FAQ

Q: Are kids too young to have an important role in God’s work?

A: No way! Kids can pray, encourage, share, and serve in powerful ways. God doesn’t wait until people are grown-ups to use them. When children read, pray, and act with love, they’re already doing real ministry on God’s team.

🙏 The Power of Prayer: Secret Strength from Heaven

Okay, BIG news: you don’t need a cape or a microphone to be powerful.

You just need prayer.

In Colossians 4:12, Paul writes:

“Epaphras… always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”

(Colossians 4:12, KJV)

That’s Bible-speak for: Epaphras prayed like a champion—not just for himself, but for other people! All the time! He was like a behind-the-scenes superhero, whispering prayers that helped friends stay strong and full of faith.

I blinked at Daddy and asked, “Wait… so prayer is part of teamwork?”

“Absolutely,” Daddy nodded. “Prayer connects us to God and to each other. It’s how we lift each other up—even when we’re far apart.”

Then Yaya added one of her amazing wisdom drops:

“Prayer isn’t just something we do. It’s something we give—like a heart-hug made out of love and faith.”

🌈 Prayer Is Invisible Glue

When we pray for someone—like your best friend who’s nervous before a test, or your neighbor who’s feeling lonely—we’re building something invisible and strong. Yaya said it’s like a bridge that connects us to God’s grace and each other’s hearts. 💗🌉

Sometimes we don’t see the answers right away, but God does. He hears every single whisper—even if it’s whispered into a pillow at bedtime. Even if it’s just, “Help my friend smile again.”

Prayer is powerful teamwork. It’s how we cheer for each other when no one else is watching. And that makes you a prayer warrior, just like Epaphras!

“Never stop praying.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:17, NLT)

“Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

(Matthew 18:20, NIV)

💬 Let’s Talk About It!

How do you feel knowing God listens every single time you pray?

Have you ever prayed for someone and seen something amazing happen?

Who could use your quiet prayer-power this week?

Fun Fact — A Church Inside a House

Colossians mentions “the church that meets in his house,” which means believers sometimes gathered in a living room instead of a big building. Families who open their homes for worship or Bible study are still copying that same early-church teamwork today.

FAQ

Q: If my job seems small, does it still count on God’s team?

A: Yes! God often uses small, faithful actions to do big things. Quiet helpers who pray, set up, clean up, or encourage others are just as needed as teachers and leaders. Colossians 4 shows that every role in God’s family is valuable.

🎨 Alice’s Faith Challenge: Let’s Be God’s Dream Team!

Okay, friends! Want to know something super amazing? You’re already invited to be part of God’s team—right now! 💪✨

This week, let’s celebrate our faith and friendship by doing fun things that show teamwork, encouragement, and prayer. Mr. Fluffernutter says we’ll need stickers, big hearts, and maybe a jellybean snack break. Let’s go!

🙏 Pray for Your Team

Each day, pick one person—a friend, a teacher, a church helper, or your pet-sitter—and pray for them! You don’t need fancy words. Just whisper something like:

“Dear God, please help [name] feel strong and loved today.”

Daddy says that praying for others is like wrapping them in invisible armor made of God’s love. Even quiet prayers can be powerful!

💌 Send Some Sunshine

Write a sweet note to someone who might need a smile. You could draw a picture, add a Bible verse, or just say:

“I’m praying for you! You’re doing a great job!”

Yaya says kind words are like sprinkles on a cupcake—they make everything better.

🗂️ Create a Teamwork Chart

Make your own Team God chart! Here’s what to do:

  • Write down everyone in your family or group
  • Give each person a role (like Encourager, Helper, Prayer Champ!)
  • Think of one way you can support them this week
  • Add sparkles, smiley faces, and doodles EVERYWHERE 🖍️✨

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”

(Romans 12:4–5, NLT)

💬 Let’s Dream Together!

How can you help your family grow closer in faith?

What’s your special role on God’s team this week?

Who can you lift up with a kind word or prayer?

Fun Fact — Early Mission “Mail Routes”

In Paul’s day, there was no email or texting. Letters had to be carried by trusted friends over long, sometimes dangerous roads. When Tychicus delivered Colossians, he wasn’t just traveling—he was carrying God’s encouragement to a whole church.

FAQ

Q: What are some simple ways our family can help share God’s love like Paul’s team?

A: Families can pray together, encourage church leaders, serve neighbors, give to missions, and share Bible stories with friends. Every time your family acts with love in Jesus’ name, you’re playing on God’s team just like the believers in Colossians.

💖 The Best Reminder: We’re Better Together!

Before Bible time ended, Yaya told us a story that made my heart do a little jump for joy. She said:

“Remember when our family helped that neighbor last spring? Each of us used our own gifts—like cooking, painting, praying—and it reminded me how the Church works: different parts, one mission—sharing God’s love.”

That made me sit up straight (and spill a little glitter on my Bible, oops). Because that was the best reminder ever:

Teamwork isn’t just about doing stuff—it’s about loving people with everything we’ve got. ❤️✨

🧩 We All Bring a Piece of the Puzzle

When I think back to that day, I remember how:

  • Daddy fixed something with his toolbox 🛠️
  • Yaya brought soup and smiles 🍲
  • Ariel helped organize and prayed quietly 🙏
  • I drew a giant rainbow card and told Mr. Fluffernutter he was in charge of “encouragement patrol” 🎨🐰

Each little thing added up to something big. Like puzzle pieces fitting together to show God’s big picture of kindness and care!

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body.”

(Romans 12:4–5, BSB)

🤝 Teamwork Is Love in Action

Working together doesn’t just get things done—it helps us grow in love. It means:

  • Listening when someone feels sad
  • Helping when someone feels stuck
  • Cheering when someone does something brave
  • Praying even when no one sees

That’s the real magic. Not fairy dust (although that’s fun too), but faith and love working hand in hand!

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

(John 13:35, NIV)

💬 Let’s Talk and Wonder:

Can you think of a time when someone’s teamwork made you feel loved?

What’s one way your family has worked together to help someone?

How do you think your special talents fit into God’s bigger plan?

Fun Fact — Your Family Has a “Team Name” Too

Just like Paul’s friends were known as “fellow workers,” your family can choose a simple “God’s Team motto”—for example, “Pray, Serve, Encourage.” Write it on the fridge or on your homeschool board as a reminder of your shared mission.

FAQ

Q: Can God still use our family even if we feel small, busy, or imperfect?

A: Absolutely. God specializes in using ordinary families who say “yes” to Him. Even simple rhythms—like praying together once a day, reading one passage a week, or serving one neighbor— become powerful when done with love in Jesus’ name.

💞 We’re Stronger Together on God’s Team!

So listen up, teammates! Whether you pray like Epaphras, encourage like Tychicus, or write cards with way too many stickers (like me!), you have a special place on God’s team. 🧡✨

“Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:11, NIV)

Being part of the Church isn’t just about going to Sunday school—it’s about being united in purpose, lifting each other up, and spreading God’s love wherever we go. That’s the mission of the Church. That’s our mission. 🕊️

🙌 Let’s Work Together for God’s Glory

Each person has special gifts. Some are super good at comforting others. Some pray like warriors. Some bake yummy banana bread (hi, Yaya!). When we all do our part with kindness and faith, we become a bright and beautiful force for God’s Kingdom!

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

(1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV)

So let’s go:

  • Encourage someone this week 💌
  • Help a neighbor or friend 🧺
  • Pray together as a family 🙏
  • Celebrate when someone does something kind 🎉

That’s what teamwork in Christ looks like—it’s full of love, laughter, service, and sparkles (okay, sparkles might just be me and Fluffernutter…).

With big hugs and even bigger faith,

Alice (and Mr. Fluffernutter!) 🐰💕

🥕✨ “Teamwork makes God’s mission sweeter than carrot cake,” says Mr. Fluffernutter.
And let me tell you, that bunny LOVES carrot cake—so that’s saying a lot! 💖
