Verb tense worksheets for Grade 2 become a garden-message rescue in Fantasticamos Tense Terrace. Join Ariel, Alice and one plush Mr. Fluffernutter as learners choose verbs that show when an action happens, explain repairs, and write their own clear messages.
Try the free six-page sample. It includes selected actual pages and sample answers. The complete 30-page adventure is the paid product.
What is included in Tense Terrace?
- 30 unique US Letter pages, supplied in two matching PDFs: premium color and white-background low-ink.
- 64 numbered activities with exact answers or clear open-response criteria.
- Adult field guide, readiness check, pocket time guide and four illustrated missions.
- Worked examples, guided practice, independent sentences and explain-the-repair checks.
- Nine-message cooperative sorting game, reusable mat and a three-part garden journal.
- Progress record, certificate, complete adult answer guide and one-household printing license.
The editions contain the same learning sequence and page order. Two 30-page editions are 30 unique pages, rather than 60 unique lessons. Your customer ZIP also includes opening/printing instructions and the license.
Which verb skills does it teach?
- Mission 1: distinguish a completed past action, a present habit or routine, and future time with will.
- Mission 2: build the selected regular past forms using -ed, or -d after a base ending in e.
- Mission 3: use will + the base verb, including with a named person or she.
- Mission 4: practice eight special pairs: go/went, see/saw, eat/ate, come/came, run/ran, make/made, take/took and give/gave.
How do we use the adventure?
Start with the adult field guide and readiness check. Model one sentence, work together, then let the learner try the independent page. Ask: When does it happen? Which verb form matches? Does the whole sentence make sense? Use a short session at a time and revisit a mission when explanations need support. An adult may read aloud or record dictated answers.
Is it right for my learner?
It is designed around Grade 2 readiness. Learners should already recognize a simple action verb and understand before, today and later. It is a focused supplement, not a complete language-arts curriculum. It does not teach progressive or perfect forms, every irregular verb, or all past-tense spelling changes such as consonant doubling and consonant + y.
Printing, materials and permissions
Downloadable digital PDFs; no physical product is shipped. Print US Letter portrait at actual size/100%, checking margins on one page first. Use either edition. Pencil and paper are enough. Adult scissors are optional for the game; an uncut option is included. One purchase covers one household and its children. Classroom, school, co-op, redistribution and resale permissions are not included.
Questions families ask
Are answers included? Yes. Pages 27-30 provide fixed answers, explanations, acceptable examples and criteria for the original journal.
Does my child have to read every direction independently? No. Adult reading and scribing are welcome; the target is verb use and explanation.
Is the low-ink version simply grayscale? No. It has white backgrounds, outline artwork and restrained borders. Labels carry the meaning, so activities do not depend on color.
Can siblings use it? Yes, within the purchasing household. Print fresh copies as needed for your own children.
Can I inspect the teaching before buying? Yes. Open the free six-page sample; its nonconsecutive original page numbers are intentional.
