How to Use God’s Gifts Fearlessly

By Alice

Okay, serious question first:
Have you ever tried to carry a giant mountain of laundry all by yourself—while wearing a blanket cape, hopping like a ninja-frog, AND keeping your bunny general from being eaten by sock monsters?!?

Well, I did. Yesterday. In the hallway.
And guess what happened?

Disaster.

Socks flew. The cape tangled. Mr. Fluffernutter may have yelled, “RETREAT!” in his heroic whisper-voice. And I totally fell over the polka-dot pants pile. I landed on my bottom with a plop that sounded like a soggy banana.

And then—while lying on the floor in a laundry avalanche—I asked the ceiling a very serious question:

“God… do You ever feel tired from carrying stuff?”

And even though the ceiling didn’t answer, my heart did.
It kinda whispered, “Silly jellybean… God never gets tired. That’s why you can lean on Him.”

💡BOOM. A bunny-brilliant truth exploded in my brain like fireworks made of glitter:
I don’t have to do it all on my own! I can trust God’s strength—’cause He never drops anything. Not even me.

So if your week feels like too many chores, too many teardrops, or too many twirly thoughts all squished into one spaghetti-noodle brain—this post is for YOU.

Come on, brave explorer! Grab your teacup helmet and bunny shield—we’re diving into a sparkly quest about how God’s strength helps us stand tall, even when our socks fall down.

🧺💖✨

🔥 What Does It Mean to Rekindle the Gift of God?

So Yaya said the word “rekindle” and I immediately thought it meant “kindle”, like Kindle the tablet thingy—but backwards! 😂 But then she smiled all twinkly and said:

“Rekindling is like when you poke at a sleepy campfire to make it glow bright again.”

Whoa. So it’s not starting over… it’s starting UP again!

✨ Stirring the Embers of Faith

Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift of God—like a marshmallow stick in a cocoa cup of faith! Yaya said God already tucked special gifts inside each of us. But sometimes they get buried under nap piles, grumpy feelings, or forgetfulness (like when I put a jellybean in my shoe and totally forgot why).

We don’t need new gifts—we just need to wake up the ones God already planted in our hearts.

“Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…”
— 2 Timothy 1:6

🎻 Picking Up the Melody Again

Then Daddy said, “It’s like picking up a trumpet you haven’t tooted in a long time. It might squeak at first, but the music is still there.”

Spiritual gifts are kinda like forgotten songs, waiting for us to press play again.

And guess what? Even when it’s hard—even when our “faith fingers” feel fumbly—God gives us strength, courage, and the world’s best cheerleader voice from Heaven: “You’ve got this, little light!”

🦸‍♀️ Use Your Gifts, Even When It’s Hard

Ariel (who is like the Vice President of Sensible Questions) asked, “Do we still use our gifts when it’s tough?”

Daddy nodded. “Especially then.”

God doesn’t leave us hanging. He stands beside us, handing out bravery and strength like invisible armor. When we use our gifts—even through the hard parts—we light up the world, one twinkly step at a time.

And Yaya reminded me (with her wise-bunny-grandma voice):

“Your gifts aren’t just for you. They’re for others. They’re for God’s big sparkly plan.”

So using your gift—whether it’s drawing smiley-stick-angels or whispering hope to your little brother—blesses the whole wide world. You never know whose heart you’re reigniting!

💭 Let’s Wonder Together:

How could your gift be a blessing to someone this week?

What special gifts do you think God tucked inside of you?

Have you ever felt too shy or tired to use your gift? What helped you try again?

Group of biblical figures and a young boy under the words “Legacy of Faith,” symbolizing spiritual heritage

🌱 Remember the Legacy of Faith

So Paul wrote about Timothy’s “real-deal, deep-down, no-pretending” kind of faith. And guess what? That special sparkle didn’t just pop out of nowhere—it hopped down the family tree from his Grandma Lois and Mama Eunice! 🐇🌳

🪴 Faith Is Like a Garden (but with more jellybeans)

Yaya leaned in, holding her teacup like it was about to tell a secret.

“Faith grows when we care for it—just like a garden. We might not see the blooms right away, but every prayer, every kind word, and every bedtime Bible story is like planting a seed.”

WHOA. So sharing God’s love is like being a magical faith gardener! 🌸✨
Even if we don’t see the sprouts at first, we trust that something beautiful is growing just below the surface.

🧁 Faith Is Also Like a Family Recipe

Then Daddy said, “It’s like passing down Grandma’s secret banana bread recipe.”

Now my brain did a cartwheel.
Because YES—faith is exactly like a recipe! You mix in grace, stir up some kindness, sprinkle in hope, and then pass it to the next person with a warm hug and maybe some whipped cream on top.

Each time we share what we believe—through stories, hugs, prayers, or even silly questions at dinner—we’re building something that can last longer than jellybeans in a preschooler’s pocket.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice…”
— 2 Timothy 1:5 (NIV)

🌼 How You Love Others Makes a Forever Difference

So yeah, Timothy’s family helped his faith grow strong—and your faith story could do that too!

Even tiny things—like saying, “Jesus loves you,” to a little cousin or praying for your bestie who lost their favorite crayon—become part of the great big story God is writing through you.

💬 Let’s Wonder Together:

Can you think of a way you could plant a seed of faith in someone’s heart this week?

Who in your family helps your faith bloom?

What’s something someone shared with you that made you feel God’s love?

💪 Overcome Fear with God’s Strength

Okay, I’m gonna say it…

Sometimes I get scared.
Like, super-duper-my-socks-just-ran-away kind of scared.
Like when the thunder sounds like God dropped a bowling ball on the clouds.

But Yaya told me something amazing (while Fluffernutter hid under my blanket cape):

“Fear tries to stop us, but God gives us power, love, and a sound mind—that’s like the world’s best faith toolbelt!”

🧰 God’s Toolkit for Brave Days

Paul told Timothy:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

Yaya explained it like this:
When fear creeps in like a shadowy sock monster, God hands us a spiritual toolkit packed with:

  • 💖 Love (the kind that squeezes your heart like a warm bunny hug)
  • 🧠 A sound mind (so we don’t spiral into jellybean panic mode)
  • 💥 Power (like Holy Spirit lightning bolts in our chest!)

So, guess what?
Even when we feel scared—we’re still equipped like super-faith warriors!

🎪 God Is the Safety Net

Then Daddy said, “It’s like walking a tightrope with a safety net underneath.”

And my brain exploded with images of a glittery tightrope stretched between two clouds and Jesus down below whispering, “I’ve got you.”

Because yeah… fear might shake our balance—but God’s love catches us every single time.
He doesn’t say we’ll never feel afraid—He just promises we’re never alone in it.

💞 Faith Sparks Courage in Others

Yaya added (with that wise-nana-glow):

“When you act with love instead of fear, you inspire others too.”

So that means—every time you’re brave enough to say the memory verse at church…
Or help someone even when your voice squeaks…
Or smile when your heart’s doing hiccups…

You’re planting ripples of courage in the people around you.

That’s the kind of holy superhero sparkle the world needs.

🧠 Let’s Wonder Together:

How can your courage help someone else today?

What’s something that makes you feel afraid—and how can you invite God into that moment?

Can you name a time you felt brave even while scared?

🗺️ Trust God’s Equipping

Okay, so Paul told Timothy not just to have spiritual gifts, but to actually use them! Like, not just storing them in your closet next to your sparkly dinosaur stickers, but actually taking them out and living with them out loud.

Yaya explained it like this (while braiding my hair into what she called “faith twirls”):

“God doesn’t just give you talents for fun—He gives you gifts on purpose, for a purpose!”

🎁 God Gives You Everything You Need

When we trust God, He hands us more than just a job to do—He gives us wisdom, courage, and a heart full of “You’ve got this!” hugs from Heaven.

So whether your gift is storytelling, hugging, dancing, praying, organizing shoes by color, or making the world’s best peanut butter banana sandwich—God planted it in you on purpose.

“The gift of God… is in you…”
— 2 Timothy 1:6

He’s not asking us to be perfect. He’s asking us to be willing.

🧭 God Is Our Map AND Our Guide

Daddy said something that made my brain go all lightbulby:

“You don’t have to find the path alone. God gives you the map and walks with you.”

WHOA. So God is like the most epic travel guide ever! He knows the shortcuts, where the bumpy parts are, AND where the hidden treasure is buried.

Even if I feel wobbly, even if I forget the way—God never loses the map. He shows me where to go and helps me step with brave-bunny feet.

That means I don’t have to carry everything by myself. I just need to carry my yes.

🌟 You’re Part of God’s Big Story

Trusting God’s guidance doesn’t mean everything is easy—it means everything matters.

Your story is a part of something way bigger than school, snacks, and sparkle markers. You’re part of God’s giant love-adventure, and your spiritual gifts are how you shine along the way.

💬 Let’s Wonder Together:

How does it feel to know God walks with you on every adventure?

What gift or talent has God tucked inside you like a treasure?

Can you think of a time when you used your gift to help someone else?

🔥 How I’m Rekindling My Faith (With Bunny Help and Glitter Plans!)

Sooooo… I made a super-top-secret (but now not-secret) plan to help me trust God’s strength and use the gifts He’s tucked inside me. Because sometimes you need a treasure map, a sparkly to-do list, and a very wise bunny advisor to grow your faith big and bright again!

Here’s what I’m gonna do:

🎁 Use My Gifts (Even If I’m Feeling Wiggle-Nervous)

I’m gonna share kindness and Jesus-love even when I feel all flippy-floppy inside. Like:

  • Helping Ariel with her schoolwork, even the math parts that make my brain do backflips.
  • Writing a note to Yaya that says, “I see you. You’re amazing. And your stories make my heart smile.”

Because gifts aren’t just talents—they’re love-tools! And mine were made to encourage hearts and shine hope, not just to stay tucked in my pencil box.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…”
— 1 Peter 4:10

💪 Overcome Fear (One Bunny Hop at a Time)

Fear is kinda like a shadow monster made of spaghetti—it looks scary but gets smaller when you shine light on it.

So when I feel jittery about:

  • Speaking in front of the class
  • Learning a new big-kid thing
  • Or even singing my Jesus song out loud…

…I’ll remember that God gave me POWER (like lightning bolts), LOVE (like bunny snuggles), and a SOUND MIND (which means I don’t have to panic like a chicken in roller skates).

Taking tiny brave steps makes my faith grow muscles—and makes Fluffernutter do victory hops. 🐇💥

“God has not given us a spirit of fear…”
— 2 Timothy 1:7

🎉 Encourage Others (Because Team Jesus Is the Best Team)

I’m gonna remind Ariel—and all my friends—that they have amazing God-gifts too.

We can be cheerleaders for each other!
We’ll shout “YOU CAN DO THIS!”
We’ll pray when someone feels like a sad potato.
We’ll dance when someone takes a brave step.
And we’ll keep living big, bold, sparkly lives for Jesus—together.

Because a gift shared is a gift multiplied. Like jellybeans in a pocket—you always find more when you share.

💬 Let’s Wonder Together:

  • What’s one brave thing you can do this week using your God-given gifts?
  • Who in your life might need a little encouragement sparkle?
  • How could you and your family make a Rekindle Plan too?

🔥 Craft Time: Make Your Own Faith Flame Jar!

Okay, craft lovers and brave believers… it’s time to grab your glue sticks, your sparkle-thoughts, and maybe a helpful bunny or two—’cause we’re about to make a Faith Flame Jar! 🐰💖🔥

This super-special craft will remind us to rekindle our spiritual gifts, just like Paul told Timothy, and to keep trusting God’s strength when things get squiggly.

“Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…”
— 2 Timothy 1:6

🎨 What You’ll Need:

  • A clean jar (make sure it’s not gunky or gooey!)
  • Colored tissue paper or construction paper (red, orange, yellow… maybe rainbow if you’re feeling bold!)
  • Glue or tape (aka the sticky stuff that holds dreams together)
  • Markers (bonus points if they smell like fruit)

Optional: Stickers, sparkles, doodles, bunny stamps, or faith-themed decorations!

✂️ How to Make a Faith Flame Jar:

  1. Cut flame shapes out of your paper. Make them wiggly, wild, or fluffy—just like real faith flames.
  2. Write powerful words on each flame:
    • “Faith”
    • “Courage”
    • “Love”
    • “Strength”
    • “Hope”
You can also write little prayers or promises, like:
    • “Help me be brave in class.”
    • “Teach me to share without grumbles.”
    • “Let my light shine on rainy days.”
  3. Glue or tape the flames inside or around your jar so it looks like a cozy, glowing fire. You can even curl the tips a little to make them dancey like real flames.
  4. Decorate with symbols that remind you of God’s love—crosses, hearts, bunny footprints, or verses that make your soul giggle.

🌟 What It All Means:

Every time you see your Faith Flame Jar, remember:

  • God gave you amazing gifts.
  • Your flame might get sleepy sometimes, but you can stir it back up!
  • Trusting God’s strength helps your heart burn bright—even on nervous-nugget days.

Your jar becomes a visual prayer, a tiny campfire of courage glowing in your room!

“Let your light shine before others…”
— Matthew 5:16

💬 Let’s Wonder Together:

  • What gift or dream are you rekindling today?
  • Which word did you choose for your first flame—and why?
  • How could you use this jar during your bedtime prayers or family devotions?

🙏 A Prayer for Courage and Faith

Mr. Fluffernutter and I held paws (okay, I held his fuzzy paw and he blinked wisely at the ceiling) and we said this prayer together—real soft, real sparkly, and real serious:

“Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the gifts You’ve hidden in our hearts like treasure waiting to shine.
Thank You for always walking beside us—through giggles, wobbles, and sock-matching emergencies.
Help us trust You with our big feelings and scary moments.
Teach us to use our gifts with courage and kindness.
When we feel afraid, remind us of Your power, love, and sound mind.
Fill our hearts with Your light so we can be glow-sticks for the world.
Amen.” 🐇💖✨
