The Joyful Return: What Happens When Jesus Comes Back?

By Alice

Yesterday, something BIG happened in our living room. I mean giant dinosaur-sized big. Not the kind that squishes your sofa—although Fluffernutter says that almost happened once during the Great Marshmallow Migration of ’23.

We were halfway through building a secret snack fort (with double doors made of couch pillows and two banana guards at the gate), when Yaya whispered something that made my ears tingle like fizzy soda:
💬 “One day, Jesus will come back in glory, and everything sad will be untrue.”

WHAT?! Jesus is coming back? Like, back back? On clouds? With trumpets?
I accidentally dropped a cookie on Fluffernutter’s ear, and he didn’t even flinch.
That’s when I knew—it was time for a Super Important Bunny Briefing.

So, I asked him, very officially,
“Mr. Fluffernutter, if Jesus is coming back, do we need matching capes or maybe golden scooters?”

He blinked once (which means “let’s make a list”) and hopped onto my Bible Journal like a fluffy prophet.

✨ So now, I’m on a mission.
A sparkly, snack-powered mission to find out:
What really happens when Jesus returns?
Will the clouds do a happy dance?
Will the trumpet sound like a kazoo if you’re little?
Do bunnies get front-row seats?

Come with me. Let’s hop through treasure maps and glory clouds and maybe—even maybe—build a “Welcome Back Jesus” parade float out of paper towel rolls and love.

Because this story?
This is the one where everything gets fixed and forever begins. 💛

⚖️ God’s Super Fair Justice Plan (Paul Said So!)

Mr. Fluffernutter and I had our ears wiggled up like satellite dishes when Yaya read Paul’s letter to the Thessalonica people. (That’s a real place, not a type of soup. I checked.)

Paul’s friends were having an ouchy-hard time. People were being mean to them just for believing in Jesus! Can you imagine getting in trouble just for loving someone with your whole heart? That’s what was happening. But Paul wasn’t scared—he wrote them a promise so sparkly, it could go on a crown:

💬 “It is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you.”
(2 Thessalonians 1:6)

I blinked and whispered to Fluffernutter,
“Did God just say… He sees everything and makes things fair? Even the sneaky stuff?”

Daddy nodded like one of those wise judges from fairy tales (but without the long wig).
🧑‍⚖️ “It means God is the ultimate Judge. He sees when people hurt others, and He will make it right. Maybe not right away—but always at the right time.”

Ariel said, “So even when it feels like nobody notices when someone is mean or unfair, God does?”

Yes! God always sees the full picture, even when we’re too short to see over the popcorn machine. He’s not slow—He’s perfect. His justice isn’t like a racecar going zoom! It’s like a garden growing exactly right so every flower blooms at the right moment.

🌱 Sometimes we want justice to happen NOW, like a microwave dinner.
🍯 But God bakes it like honey cake—with patience, love, and perfect timing.

💭 Let’s Wonder Together!

What would Fluffernutter do if he were in a courtroom?

Can you think of a time when someone did something unfair? How did it feel to wait for it to be made right?

Why do you think God waits sometimes before He acts?

🌩️ Whoa! God’s Justice Is Like a Thunderhug (But Gentle!)

After our snack-time Bible scroll reading (which may or may not have involved grape juice mustaches), Yaya said something so wow-worthy I had to scribble it in my Bunny Brigade journal:

💬 “God doesn’t overlook the hurt His people go through. When Jesus returns, He will make everything right.”

I gasped so loud a cracker flew out of my mouth.

“Wait… you mean, God sees all the bad stuff, even the stuff behind closed doors or under the couch cushions of life?” I asked.

Yaya nodded like the Queen of Comfort and said,
💬 “We don’t have to fight for justice all by ourselves. God is the most fair and loving Judge there ever was.”

That’s when Mr. Fluffernutter put on his Invisible Justice Cape and marched across the Bible like he was guarding a royal promise. (He says it’s top-secret bunny armor, but I think it’s just a tissue.)

🌈 God’s justice isn’t just BIG—it’s kind, careful, and always right on time.
🌍 Even when the world feels upside down and inside out, He sees us. He loves us. He’s got a plan.

I thought about how sometimes, it feels like mean people win. Like when the frog I saved from the mud got splashed again. Or when Ariel cleaned up everyone’s mess and someone else got the high-five.

But God says, “No pain is invisible to Me.” He promises that when Jesus returns, no sadness will be left unfixed. Not even the quiet kinds.

💭 Can We Wonder About This?

What do you think Jesus will do first when He returns?

What does it mean to trust God’s justice instead of trying to fix everything ourselves?

Have you ever felt like someone didn’t notice when you were hurt or treated unfairly?

👑 Get Ready for Sparkles! Believers Will Be Glorified

Okay, okay—brace yourself for the shiniest, most whoa-worthy promise ever in the Bible. Ready?

When Jesus comes back (and He will come back, riding clouds and maybe a trumpet-blasting llama… still waiting on confirmation), Paul says something amazing will happen to all who believe:

💬 “When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe…”
—2 Thessalonians 1:10

Mr. Fluffernutter dropped his royal teacup when he heard that. “Did Paul just say… we get to share in Jesus’ glory?” I shouted, probably too loud for a Tuesday.

Yaya nodded, and Ariel said, “It’s like getting the biggest, brightest ‘Well done!’ from Jesus Himself.”

🎉 YES.
✨ DOUBLE YES.
👑 TRIPLE YES WITH GLORY SAUCE.

👑 Imagine standing in front of Jesus, and He looks at you with eyes full of love and says,
“You kept going. I saw every moment. You were brave. You were Mine.”
Then He hands you a crown with your name on it.
Not a plastic crown. A real, heavenly, sparkle-from-the-inside kind.

Fluffernutter says it might also come with bunny-sized medals of bravery for all those “not-so-fun” days when we still chose kindness, prayer, or faith. Even when we felt small or squishy or left out.

This promise reminds me:
🥇 Every time you forgive.
🎈 Every time you don’t give up.
🕊 Every time you whisper “I trust You, God,” even when things are hard…

God sees it all.

And one day, when Jesus returns, all those tiny faith-acts become eternal fireworks.

💭 Let’s Wonder and Dream!

Can you think of a moment when you stayed faithful even when it was tough?

What do you imagine your heavenly crown will look like?

How does it feel to know that Jesus will celebrate YOU one day?

💤 Fluffernutter’s Forever Nap Club (And the Cozy Hug from Heaven)

After Bible time, Daddy Ryan leaned back in his chair, looked like he was dreaming about cinnamon rolls, and said:

💬 “For all the believers who’ve endured hardships, Jesus promises peace, joy, and a forever-home with Him.”

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I hear the words peace and joy and home with Jesus—my heart throws a confetti party.

Mr. Fluffernutter called an emergency Bunny Council Meeting and whispered,
“Prepare the Cozy Blankets of Glory.”

Because guess what?
When Jesus returns, He’s not just showing up with trumpets and justice—He’s bringing rest. Big, snuggly, soul-deep rest for the weary.

✨ Imagine the warmest, safest hug that wraps around your heart and whispers,
“You made it. You’re safe now. Welcome home.”
That’s what eternal rest with Jesus feels like.

Some days feel heavy. Like the world is one giant to-do list and we lost our glitter glue halfway through. But knowing that Jesus promises an eternal rest? That means all the hard stuff—every tear, every hurt, every “why is this so hard?”—gets tucked away in His love forever.

In Jesus’ forever-kingdom, there are no bullies. No worries. No bedtime without extra stories. Just joy. Peace. Hugs that never let go. And Fluffernutter thinks there might even be soft clouds that smell like vanilla cupcakes.

💭 Let’s Rest in This Thought:

Can you think of someone who needs to hear this promise today?

How does it make you feel to imagine Jesus saying, “Welcome home”?

What kind of “heaven-hug” do you picture when you think about being with Jesus?

🌟 My Plan for Planet Earth Until Jesus Comes Back (With Bunny Backup!)

During our big comfy-couch Bible talk, Yaya said something that made my brain go BOING! like a trampoline:

💬 “When we know Jesus is coming back, it changes how we live today.”

I blinked so hard my eyelashes did a little jazz dance. Fluffernutter leaned in and whispered,
“That means every cookie we share, every hug we give, and every time we forgive someone—it all counts.”

So I made a plan. A real one. Like a treasure map for living a glittery, good-hearted life while I wait for the most glorious sky-party ever—a.k.a. Jesus’ return.

🛡️ I Will Trust God for Justice

Sometimes, life feels like a game of “That’s Not Fair!” (Fluffernutter says the rules change daily, especially if broccoli is involved.)

But instead of stomping or tattling or turning into “Captain Whiny-Cheeks,” I’ll pause and remember:

💬 “His ways are higher than our ways.”
—Isaiah 55:9

God sees everything. Even the stuff under the rug. He knows. He promises to make all things right, even the invisible hurts. And guess what? His timing is better than microwave popcorn—it’s perfect.

🌈 I Will Live with Hope

Jesus’ return isn’t scary. It’s exciting! Like waiting for a party with fireworks, bubble tea, and dancing sheep (Fluffernutter’s request).

It’s the BEST promise ever.
A promise that says: no more tears, no more bullies, no more bad days—just hugs, songs, and joy that goes on forever.

💬 “Let not your heart be troubled… I will come again.”
—John 14:1–3 (paraphrased for snack-sized brains)

So when the world feels twisty or upside-down, I’ll remember: He’s coming back. And it’s going to be amazing.

🦶 I Will Stay Faithful (Even When It’s Hard)

Even when my crown feels crooked or I trip over my own bunny slippers, I’ll keep choosing what’s right.

Because Jesus sees it all.

🕊 Every time I’m kind.
🌻 Every time I help.
🕯 Every time I whisper, “I still believe…”

He’s right there beside me, smiling. Cheering. Sometimes even holding my hand (with Fluffernutter on the other side, of course).

💭 Wanna Make Your Own Plan?

  • What would be on your “Jesus is coming back” to-do list?
  • How can you live each day like it’s a love letter to Jesus?
  • What’s one tiny act of kindness you can do today, knowing He sees it?

🎁 Jesus’ Promise Jar (AKA: Fluffernutter’s Sparkle Vault of Hope)

Okay, okay, hold your jellybeans, because we are about to make the most faith-filled, glitter-sprinkled jar in the whole galaxy! Mr. Fluffernutter calls it…

🌟 “The Sparkle Vault of Promises from the King of Kings.”

I call it… Jesus’ Promise Jar. And it’s basically a treasure chest for your heart—filled with Bible promises to help you shine bright and stay strong while we wait for Jesus to return!

📝 What’s a Promise Jar, Anyway?

Yaya said Jesus promised:

💬 “I go to prepare a place for you.”
—John 14:3

That means He’s getting Heaven ready right now, with your name written in sparkly letters on the front gate (probably with bunnies nearby, but that’s my theory).

And because His promises are real and true and joy-full, we get to keep them somewhere special.

🧡 What You’ll Need for Your Jesus’ Promise Jar

  • A jar (or small container, or maybe a tea tin, or an old sock if you’re really creative)
  • Colorful paper (or bunny-approved post-it notes)
  • Markers, crayons, or gel pens (for maximum pizzazz)
  • Stickers (especially stars, hearts, and maybe a tiny sheep in sunglasses)
  • Optional but amazing: glitter glue, washi tape, googly eyes

✂️ How to Make It: Bunny-Brigade Instructions

  1. Write down Jesus’ promises on little pieces of paper. Here are some to start with:
    • “God will bring justice.” (2 Thessalonians 1:6)
    • “Believers will share in His glory.” (2 Thessalonians 1:10)
    • “We will have eternal rest.” (Hebrews 4:9–10, paraphrased)
    • “Jesus is coming back!” (Revelation 22:12)
  2. Decorate your jar like it’s going in the Royal Museum of Faith. (Because it kinda is.)
  3. Fold your promise slips gently—Fluffernutter says it keeps the hope inside—and drop them into your jar.
  4. Each day, pull out one promise and read it out loud (bonus points if you sing it opera-style or whisper it to your stuffed animals).

Every promise is a mini rainbow that fits in your hand. And every time you read one, you’re hugging a truth from Heaven.

💭 Let’s Make It a Mission!

  • What promise from Jesus makes you feel the most loved today?
  • Can you decorate a jar and give it to someone who needs a little extra joy?
  • What would Mr. Fluffernutter write on his promise paper?

🙏 A Bunny-Sized Prayer for Peace and Justice

Last night, I wrapped myself up like a burrito in my blanket, held Mr. Fluffernutter tight, and whispered this prayer while his ears flopped over my Bible:

“Dear Jesus,
Thank You for Your super amazing promise to come back one day! Thank You for always being with us, even when stuff feels messy or upside-down.
Please help me trust You when things feel unfair. Help me live with hope and sparkle, even when I don’t understand everything.
Teach me to be faithful in the little things—like sharing cookies and saying kind words.
Help me love like You and shine like You, and remind me that You’re always working behind the scenes to make everything right.
Amen.”

Fluffernutter blinked twice (which is his way of saying “Jesus totally heard that!”).

🌟 Even a small prayer whispered in the dark can echo in Heaven like a trumpet of hope.

💡 Your Turn, Brave Believer!

How will you live like Jesus is coming back?

  • Maybe you’ll trust God with something unfair, like a broken toy or a hurt feeling.
  • Maybe you’ll share a Bible promise with a friend who’s having a hard day.
  • Or maybe—just maybe—you’ll start a kindness quest and fill your day with faith-powered surprises.

So until next time… keep shining. Keep giggling. Keep believing.

And remember: Jesus is coming back, and we’re part of His story. Even bunnies in pajamas matter to the King of Kings. 🐰👑

With sparkle and sprinkles,
