Shine Like Jesus: Simple Acts of Kindness

A young girl with light brown wavy hair and a flower crown holds hands with her white bunny in a softly lit forest, walking toward golden rays of light surrounded by signs reading “Kindness,” “Service,” “Faithfulness,” and “Faith,” symbolizing the message of shining Jesus’ light.

By Alice

Okay, listen—this is important.

Never, ever tell your stuffed bunny that the Bible says we’re supposed to “shine like lights in the world” unless you’re absolutely sure he won’t try to eat a flashlight.

Mr. Fluffernutter thought he’d glow brighter if he swallowed one. “For Jesus!” he squeaked, very nobly. But the flashlight got stuck in his floppy belly and now he just kind of buzzes when you poke him.

So today, while I helped un-buzz his tummy with my doctor kit (and a glitter bandage), I asked him,
“What if shining for Jesus isn’t about actual light bulbs at all?”

And then I thought…

🌟 What if shining means saying something kind when someone’s sad?
🌟 Or sharing your crayons even when the pink is really, really special?
🌟 Or hugging your grumpy dog and praying for your sister when she won’t stop calling you ‘pickle breath’?

Fluffernutter blinked (still glowing a teeny bit) and said,
“Maybe shining means loving like Jesus — even in the dark.”

That made my chest feel warm. Like marshmallow tea. Like a star inside me was stretching its arms.

So this blog post is for every kid (and every bunny) who wants to sparkle for Jesus — not just when it’s easy, but when it’s really, really hard. Like when someone takes the last muffin. Or when you’re afraid. Or when the world feels cloudy.

Let’s learn how to shine the kind of light you can’t see with your eyes — the kind that comes from your heart.

Are you ready, Light-Huggers?
Let’s glow.

Jesus sits on a throne surrounded by angels and people, as men and women serve joyfully in a workshop, illustrating faithful service in God’s presence.

🐾 Working Out Your Salvation… Like a Bunny in Gym Shorts?

So guess what verse made Mr. Fluffernutter fall over backwards in our Bible time today?

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” — Philippians 2:12

Now, I thought this meant I needed to do jumping jacks while reading the Bible! I even made Fluffernutter some tiny gym shorts (they had sparkly lightning bolts). But Daddy said, “It’s not about exercise like at the park—it’s about how we live after we believe in Jesus.”

Ariel nodded all smart and said, “So it’s about showing what’s already true in our hearts?”
Daddy smiled and said, “Exactly. We don’t earn salvation—we reflect it by loving God and loving others.”

Then Yaya told us something even cooler. She said that “fear and trembling” doesn’t mean being scared like when the vacuum roars—it means having super-deep respect. Like when you whisper in church or hold a butterfly really gently.

✨ Shining When No One Sees

That made me think. 🌟

When nobody’s watching—not even Bash the dog—I still want to do what’s kind and true. Because God sees, right? And every choice I make, even the tiny ones, is like adding a brushstroke to a big painting called “My Life with Jesus.” 🎨

Sharing my cookie? Brushstroke!
Helping Ariel clean up slime? Brushstroke!
Not throwing Fluffernutter when he steals my crayons again? BIG brushstroke!

Every loving choice makes the picture clearer—and the picture shows God’s love.

💛 Little Acts, Big Shine

Yaya says we can shine without shouting. Like, sometimes the most Jesus-y thing is listening. Or holding someone’s hand when they’re sad. Or saying, “I forgive you” even when your sister definitely ate your last muffin.

“Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14

So today, I’m going to try being sparkly when it’s quiet. Not just when people are looking. Because that’s what it means to “work out” my salvation—not in gym shorts, but with a soft heart, strong choices, and love that points back to Jesus.

🌈 Let’s Think and Talk!

What does “respecting God” look like to you?

What are some quiet ways you can show God’s love today?

Have you ever done something kind even when nobody noticed?

A radiant figure teaches from an elevated seat surrounded by biblical followers in a surreal, swirling heaven-like setting with an open Bible and glowing orbs.

🦋 Trusting God’s Power (Even When You Feel Like a Wiggly Worm)

So Fluffernutter and I were trying to fly. Don’t worry—we used paper wings and couch cushions, and only one lamp got knocked over (sorry, Mommy).

I said, “What if I had superpowers and could just ZOOM through hard things?”
And then Fluffernutter blinked and quoted a verse like a very fluffy prophet:

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” — Philippians 2:13

Wait… did that mean I don’t need superpowers? Because I already have God’s strength inside me?

💪 Not Alone in the Hard Stuff

Daddy explained that God gives us the want-to and the can-do.
Ariel asked, “So we’re not trying to obey all by ourselves?”
Daddy smiled and said, “Not at all. God is the one working in us, helping us love Him, trust Him, and do what pleases Him.”

Yaya added something so beautiful:
“God’s power is like having the ultimate helper inside your heart. He doesn’t just tell us what to do—He helps us do it.”

That made my brain do a happy somersault.

I always thought I had to try really hard to be good for God—like wearing my Sunday shoes even when they pinch or not yelling when Bash eats my last cookie. But now I see that when I feel too small or squishy or wiggly (like a worm who lost his map), God is right there… helping me shine anyway.

🎈 His Strength is Our Spark

Knowing that God works in us is like having a breeze behind your kite.
We still fly the string, but He’s the wind that lifts us higher.
We might stumble or forget or cry or yell (sorry again, Bash), but God never stops loving us—and never stops giving us His power to try again.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

Even the hard stuff like forgiving. Or waiting. Or sharing the last muffin. (Again.)

So if you ever feel like a floppy bunny with tangled fur and no idea how to obey God today—don’t worry.

He’s working in you.
He’s helping you.
He’s loving you.
Always.

🌱 Let’s Wonder Together

  • Can you think of a time when God helped you do something really hard?
  • What does it feel like to know God is always with you, even when things get tricky?
  • How could you ask Him for help today?

Remember: You don’t have to be strong on your own.
God’s power is your secret sparkle.

A prophet preaches at sunrise under glowing lightbulbs and a sky full of stars, balloons, and birds, with biblical women and men listening near a river.

🕯️ Living as Lights in the World (Even When the Muffin Falls Jelly-Side Down)

Do you know what happens when you eat the last jelly muffin and complain that there aren’t more?

You do not shine like a light in the world.
You look more like a stormcloud with jam on your chin. (Ask me how I know. 😳)

But then Mr. Fluffernutter tugged on my sleeve and whispered a glowing verse into my ear:

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings… among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” — Philippians 2:14–15

Wait, really? ALL things?
Even brushing my teeth?
Even when Ariel’s humming in that la-la-la way that makes my brain tickle?
Even when Mommy says “clean up time” during castle building?

💡 No Grumbling = Maximum Glow

Daddy said that Paul wanted us to choose joy instead of grumbling, so our lives can sparkle like flashlights that point to Jesus.
Ariel asked, “So we’re not supposed to complain at all?”
Daddy smiled and said, “That’s right. Even when things are hard, we can reflect God’s love by choosing gratitude.”

Yaya added her beautiful voice and said, “Shining as lights means showing the world who Jesus is—being kind, patient, and full of love, especially when it’s hard.”

Wooooof. That’s not easy.

But it is powerful. ✨

✨ Little Lights, Big Love

Imagine you’re a tiny candle in a big dark room. Just one!
But when you shine, people can see. They feel safe. They feel warm.
And if everyone chooses joy and kindness and sparkly forgiveness instead of thunder-y grumbling?

Boom. Whole room lights up. Whole world gets brighter.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

So now, when I feel like stomping or scowling or flopping onto the carpet like a spaghetti noodle, I take a deep breath and say:

“Jesus, help me shine. Even now. Even here.”

Fluffernutter calls it Operation Glow Bug. 🐛💡

🌼 Let’s Glow Together!

  • Can you think of a time when you chose joy instead of complaining?
  • What’s one small way you could “shine like a light” today at home or school?
  • How do our attitudes help other people see God’s love?

Remember: You don’t have to be the sun. Just one little spark of joy can light up someone’s whole day. Shine bright, sweet friend. 💛

🧺 Serving with Joy (Even When the Socks Smell Weird)

This morning, Fluffernutter and I invented a new game called “Laundry Olympics.”
It involves sock-sorting, wild cheering, and absolutely zero grumbling. (Okay, maybe one little grumble when I found a pair of Bash’s dog socks in my pile.)

Then Daddy shared this glowy verse:

“Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.” — Philippians 2:17

I asked, “Wait… Paul was happy to serve even when it was hard?”
Ariel said, “So serving’s not just helping—it’s being happy to help?”
And Daddy smiled and said, “Exactly. Serving with joy shows our love for God.”

Yaya added, “When we serve joyfully, we’re showing others what it means to live like Jesus. It’s like shining your heart light into someone else’s day.”

That made me want to grab my glitter and go!

🎈 The Secret to Happy Helping

I used to think chores were just… chores.
But now, I imagine every act of kindness is like building an invisible bridge made of sparkles and banana bread.
Helping Mommy with dishes? Plop—a sparkle tile.
Drawing a silly picture to make someone smile? Sprinkle more joy glue.

Suddenly, serving doesn’t feel like work anymore.
It feels like painting love into the world, one small happy brushstroke at a time.

“Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” — Psalm 100:2

Even if I’m off-key. Even if I forget the words. Even if the jelly mop incident happens again. (We don’t talk about that day.)

💖 Little Acts = Big Love

Serving with joy isn’t about being fancy or famous.
It’s about doing small things with a big heart.
Holding the door. Picking up your toys before someone trips. Smiling at the neighbor who always frowns at your chalk dragons on the sidewalk.

Every joyful act makes a difference.
And when we serve together, it’s like creating a whole community of happy, helpful, glowing hearts.

☀️ Let’s Wonder Together!

  • What’s something you did recently that helped someone else?
  • How did it feel to do it with a happy heart?
  • Can you think of a way to serve someone today that would make them smile?

Remember: Serving with joy doesn’t require superhero powers—just a willing heart, maybe a dish towel, and sometimes a bunny in a hairnet. 🐰🫧

A young girl with light brown wavy hair stands confidently in front of a chalkboard labeled “Operation Faith Sparkle,” wearing oversized glittery “Gratitude Goggles” and a pink cape, while her white bunny, Mr. Fluffernutter, wears a superhero mask and a satchel labeled “Faith Sparkles,” surrounded by stars, hearts, kindness doodles, and a glowing Bible.

🌟 Alice’s Faith Challenge! (Now Featuring Gratitude Goggles and Sparkle Missions!)

Okay, friends — are you ready for the greatest glow-up challenge of the week?
Mr. Fluffernutter and I call it Operation Faith Sparkle.
Why? Because living out your salvation should definitely include glitter (the imaginary kind… unless Mommy says yes).

Two contrasting halves show a grumpy child and a glowing prophet under the message “Choose Gratitude Over Complaining,” surrounded by emotional figures and farm life.

💛 Choose Gratitude Over Complaining

When your cereal gets soggy…
When your sock won’t go on right…
When your sister takes the blue crayon again…

Before your grumbles grow, try this instead:
🌀 Take a deep breath.
🌼 Think of one tiny thing you’re thankful for.
📝 Write it down in your “God’s Blessings” notebook (or draw a jellybean with wings — that works too).

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Gratitude is like watering joy seeds in your heart.
The more you water them, the more they grow into leafy vines of giggles, hugs, and hope!

Biblical figures, animals, and nature scenes spiral around a glowing Star of David in a colorful, whimsical stained-glass-style artwork.

✨ Shine as a Light

Look around you — see anyone who could use a sparkle boost?
Maybe it’s your teacher, or your dog, or the grumpy neighbor who says your chalk dragons are “too swirly.”

👒 Offer to help.
🌈 Share a smile.
🎀 Write a kind note and stick it on someone’s door (just… not with jelly).

Every kind act becomes a beam of light pointing people to Jesus.

“You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others.” — Matthew 5:14–16

Even a giggle, a hug, or a sticker can brighten someone’s cloudy day.
You are a flashlight of faith!
Go glow.

🎁 Serve with Joy

Here comes the fluffiest part of the challenge.

💌 Pick one person to bless this week.
Maybe your brother. Maybe your dog (again). Maybe Yaya. (Actually, definitely Yaya.)

🧽 Help with a chore.
🍪 Bake a treat.
🎉 Make them a silly “Jesus Loves You” card with googly eyes and sparkly hearts.

And do it all with a heart that sings (or squeaks if you’re Fluffernutter).

“God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7

I’m writing a thank-you note for Yaya this week.
She’s like a Bible-shaped hug wrapped in warm cookies.
She teaches me how to live for Jesus even when the world is confusing and the muffins are gone.

🌻 Let’s Try It Together!

  • What’s one small way you can live out your salvation this week?
  • Who can you serve with a cheerful heart?
  • How does your light shine brightest?

Remember, you don’t need a cape or a crown.
Just a kind heart, a little courage, and maybe a bunny with big ideas.

Now go sparkle for Jesus — the world needs your light! 🐰💫

🌟 The Best Reminder (Brought to You by Yaya and the Gratitude Glow Bug)

Before we closed our Bible time today, Yaya told a story that made Mr. Fluffernutter stop chewing his imaginary gratitude granola.

She said there was a time she felt super small — like a ladybug trying to carry a watermelon. Everything felt hard. The days were gloomy. The cookies weren’t rising right. And her heart felt squished by worries.

But then Yaya said something beautiful (she always does):

“When I trusted God to work in me, He gave me the strength to live in a way that reflected His love.”

That sentence was like someone flipped a light switch in my chest.

💡 Choosing Light in Heavy Moments

Yaya said she chose to look at blessings instead of all the yucky stuff. Even when her heart was tired, she thanked God for the tiny good things — like warm tea, kind hugs, or the way the birds still sang outside her window.

That made her feel braver, not because things were perfect…
but because God’s power helped her shine anyway.

And that made me wonder…

🌱 What if the harder the day feels, the more we need to glow?
🌱 What if our light shines the most when things are the darkest?

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.” — Psalm 28:7

Yaya’s story helped me understand that when we lean on God, we don’t just survive — we reflect His love. Like sparkly mirrors with bunny ears.

🕯️ Lighting the Way for Others

When we live like Yaya did — choosing joy, trusting God, and sprinkling kindness around like cupcake confetti — we become walking, giggling, glow bugs for Jesus.

Even one tiny smile can light up someone’s cloudy sky.
Even one “thank you” can untangle a knot in someone’s heart.
Even one prayer can float to Heaven and come back with courage tucked inside.

💭 Let’s Talk About It!

  • Have you ever seen someone trust God during a hard time? What did it teach you?
  • What’s something small you can thank God for today, even if things feel tough?
  • How can your story help someone else feel hope?

Remember: God’s power helps us live for Him—even when we feel like floppy bunnies with tangled fur and no idea what comes next.

All we have to do is trust. And shine.

🌞 Shine His Light — With Joy, Trust, and Bunny Sidekicks!

So friends — are you ready?

Let’s live out our salvation this week like sparkly superheroes!
Not the kind with capes and laser eyes (although Fluffernutter is working on laser hugs), but the kind who:

💛 Obey even when it’s hard
💛 Trust in God’s power when we feel tiny
💛 Serve with joy that makes people go, “Whoa, what’s their secret?”

Because every day is a chance to let our hearts shine His light into the world.
Like sunshine through stained glass. Like twinkle lights in a storm. Like glitter on pancakes (still asking Mommy about that one).

“You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:5

🌈 You’re Never Alone on the Glow Path

Some days will feel bumpy.
Some days might even feel like the world sat on your marshmallow dreams.
But guess what?

God is with you. Always.
He gives you strength. He whispers wisdom.
He fills you with the light that never runs out — even when your flashlight batteries do.

So don’t be afraid to keep glowing, even when it’s hard.
Your kindness, your prayers, your quiet faith? They shine.
And someone, somewhere, needs that sparkle.

Let’s be a team of twinkling truth-tellers and joy-givers!
Let’s make the world brighter, kinder, and more Jesus-y.

With love and light-filled bunny snuggles,
Alice (and Mr. Fluffernutter!) 🐰💕

P.S. Fluffernutter says:
