John 8:12 • KJV Family Bible Adventure
Jesus does more than point toward the light. He says, “I am the light of the world.” Follow the lantern trail with Alice and Mr. Fluffernutter as your family reads the verse, discovers what it means, practices it, and carries the lesson into real life.

Read the Light
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (KJV)
Jesus spoke these words while teaching in Jerusalem. He was not claiming to be another teacher carrying a lamp. He identified Himself as the Light of the World.
Light lets us see what is really there. Jesus reveals truth about God, exposes what is false, and leads people toward life. The promise in the verse is tied to following Him: “he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness.”

Discover the Meaning
Imagine crossing a dark room with a flashlight. The beam does not move the furniture; it helps you see what is true so you can walk wisely. That picture is useful, but Jesus is far greater than a flashlight.
Light
Truth, revelation, guidance, and life found in Christ.
Follow
Trust Jesus enough to learn from Him, obey Him, and keep walking with Him.
Darkness
A biblical picture that can include sin, unbelief, and spiritual blindness - not simply being afraid of nighttime.
Life
Jesus promises more than better decisions. He is the source of the “light of life.”
Guided Practice
Practice the Truth
Mr. Fluffernutter calls this the Lantern Test: do not ask only, “What is easiest?” Ask what Jesus’ truth helps you see.
A friend is left out.
Shadow choice: walk past because it is not your problem.
Light-filled choice: invite the person in, speak kindly, or get help when needed.
You made a mistake.
Shadow choice: hide it or blame somebody else.
Light-filled choice: tell the truth, apologize when necessary, and make it right.
Someone hurts your feelings.
Shadow choice: answer cruelty with cruelty.
Light-filled choice: tell the truth without revenge, forgive, and seek a trusted adult when the situation needs help.

Extension + Onward Path
Keep Following the Light
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
John 8:12 tells us who Jesus is. Psalm 119:105 reminds us that God’s Word gives light for the path in front of us. Those truths belong together: follow Christ, hear His Word, and take the next faithful step.
Love, Alice & Mr. Fluffernutter
Keep following Jesus. Small faithful steps still shine.
